Place on a suitable dish or surface and light the end of the smudge wand carefully to release a pleasant odor from the smoldering leaves until it starts to billow up lightly or as required. Direct the smoke with the palms of your hand or appropriate tools into the areas or corners to be purified and send the smoke out of the ritual area through a window or door. Extinguish gently with a lightly damp cloth to reuse at a later occasion.
