Love is just an empty road
That leads us closer to our self
And even though we walk alone
We are together more or less
With a person, or a dream
Or just your inner emptiness
You are surrounded by just you
Pretending to be someone else
As people come and people go
They give you sorrow, joy and hope
They are just mirrors to your soul
You better thank them for their help
The more you walk the more you learn
The more you lose the more you earn
Thus wiser by that brief sojourn
You go to your eternal Self
The place where you and I are one
The place where we long to return
Down on that crowded empty road
I walk alone – I, Me, Myself
It is true! All relationships are there to just help us relate better with ourselves.
Who are we?
The truth is that there is only one great energy in the uni-verse, just one eternal being
We cannot be anything but that One
There cannot be anything else or anyone else except the One
We are not always in this awareness. Most of the time we are deluded, hallucinating……. trapped in the illusion of duality. We create several fragments of ourselves…… and then when we are utterly divided into so many complicated beings, tired, disillusioned, longing to find peace and simplicity… we begin healing ourselves, bringing the lost parts of our self together over several lifetimes, multiple existences.
While creating several parts of itself, the One had to use the concept of Ego. This means we have to identify ourselves as different individuals so that we can construct, create and go through this play of life in this infinite world. If we were constantly present as One we would be unable to experience the variety and fullness of our potential. The One divided itself into several fragments of consciousness that became the infinite number of souls in this universe to experience the various possibilities of what the One could be.
This is where the concept of Soul comes in. Our Soul believes itself to be distinct from other souls. A soul has memory (sometimes conscious but mostly subconscious) of past lives that the soul believes to be theirs uniquely. My soul believes my lifetimes to be my own and yours as your owns. The soul has its own individuality.
Within the soul we have several different lives though we forget usually how they are linked. Each life believes itself to belong to a different person. We become a new person, a new individual in every lifetime, born and reborn in several forms, taking different personalities…Why? To experience our fullest potential through several possibilities of existence.
In these lifetimes we often come close to certain individuals with whom we feel a strong connection. In the first meeting it is as if we have met them before or as if something is pulling us towards them. These are soul-mates with whom we share a karmic connection and we have come together over lifetimes to learn valuable lessons from one another, several lessons but the most important being about our self and who we truly are, about our own unity.
Sooner or later, we will find that the world around us takes shape and form based on our inner beliefs and intentions. So the soul-mates we attract to ourselves are all a reflection of our inner beliefs, fears, hopes and so on. So though soul-mate relationships can be challenging, they are always there to help us understand ourselves. They heal us of negative patterns that make us unhappy and diseased by teaching us how to release unnecessary energy and how to create more happy and fulfilling relationships. The more we are at ease with ourselves, the more we draw positive and happy soul-mates towards us.
A twin flame or twin soul is a soul-mate that is much like our soul, because we have learned our lessons, realized who we are, love ourselves and are at ease with ourselves. Twin flames share a lot in common and work closely together, most often to spread more awareness and joy in the world.
A soul group is similarly composed of individual souls that come together with a common purpose, to unite again as they find meaning and fulfillment through shared lessons and often combined spiritual work.
As souls unite through their twin flames they dissolve relationship obstacles and find peace so they do not have to reincarnate again as two separate individuals. Similarly soul groups unite as One when they release ego barriers and become one with the great Self.
All this while that we are interacting and sharing our life with one another…are we aware of who we are and of our inherent unity?
Through all our relationships do we know we are only learning how to be ourselves?
When we do realize our spiritual Oneness – how best can we manifest this in our own dualistic existence?
How can we channel Love energy to heal and enrich every aspect of our lives, both spiritually and practically, in relationships and otherwise?

Excellent article. Recently I have become involved in “a Course in Miracles” which says the same thing.
There is only one being that has split into many. However, the split is an illusion.
I believe that all of us have only one destiny which is to realise we have never left the source, although the eyes of the body do not see it that way.
Here are two lines out of the Course in Miracles.
Nothing real can be threatened
(Who we are is a being beyond time and space, which cannot be harmed in any way).
Nothing unreal exists
(In reality the seperation has never happened, the seperate bodies are an illusion, we have eyes that cannot see what is real).
Love and Blessings, Roeland
Thank you for the appreciation! Coming from you it means a lot. I have heard of the course and these lines really sound powerful. Thanks for sharing (*)
